If humanity runs on coffee, can Salut! Live do so too?

It is not the first time Salut! Live has been caught asking its readers to consider making small donations to support the work we do. It probably won’t be the last.
The little coffee cup image you see on arriving at the site and at the top of individual items is your chance to contribute, digging deep or shallow. I suppose coffee is chosen as the image reflecting the low-cost level of support most people might give if inclined to give at all.
Why this and why now?
There are already lots of calls on your charitable instincts and I am sure most will seem more deserving.
Salut! Live is not a charity but a labour-of-love website that tries to promote all that is good about the music we love.
Some costs do crop up but that goes with the territory of running such a site; the chief investment we make is time. I still strive to make some sort of living from freelance journalism but the climate is bleak and, of course, every hour I spend here robs me of an hour I might otherwise spend finding, researching and pitching a paid-for article for publication.
Crowdfunding has become quite fashionable. We are currently seeing more than 400 visits daily to the site - the figures gets higher, sometimes a lot higher and sometimes into four figures - and 550+ people are now members of our Salut! Live Folk group at Facebook. A post at the Facebook can be seen 1000 times or more once shared with relevant other groups. This is result of a lot of effort, a lot of time.
That effort and time are willingly devoted by Andrew Cirry, my deputy editor, and I to the cause of spreading the joy of folk, folk-rock and related music. But a little financial support would give me a little recognition and encouragement.
Give if you feel like it. Give a little, give a lot or give nothing. The BuyaCoffee button suggests £25, £50 or £100 but of course you can enter your own smaller figure. You’ll be welcome here no matter what.
Join the Salut! Live Facebook group. Visit us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/2902595146676633. You'll get there immediately if you're already on Facebook and it's simple and free to join.
