Dick Gaughan is the new Artist of the Week at Salut! Live's Facebook group.
This is a better version of the photo used in the Faceb0ok posting by our deputy editor Andrew Curry. It was taken by Ian A Anderson, an accomplished blues musician who edited the much-missed fRoots magazine and he very generously supplied it.

Dick Gaughan's live performances have been halted by ill health, a stroke to be more precise, but he deserves to know that his quite magnificent work merits the modest accolade Salut! Live has accorded him.
This is how , at the UK and Irish folk music 60s-80s Facebook group, I introduced our choice of Dick as Artist of the Week:
Thanks to subscribers to this group for various suggestions for an Artist of the Week project. Dick Gaughan was the name mentioned most so here he is and about time too. I first met Dick when he played my folk club in Bishop Auckland, Co Durham in 1968 or 1969. I was on strike from the local paper I worked for, he’d been active in some way in in the Upper Clyde Shipbuilders sit-in and next day we drank copious amounts of Federation best in mutual solidarity (or something) in the working men’s club. Heady days
