From an old folk PR friend, Claire Horton, comes news of Kate Rusby's plans to stream her album of pop covers, Hand Me Down
No,the song from Les Miserables is not among the 12 tracks on Kate's most successful album, in chart terms. Nor is a Barnsley Nightingale version of the Eurythmics' 1983 smash hit Sweet Dreams (are made of this) or even the Everly Brothers' All I Have to Do is Dream any more than was. But I couldn't resist a pun, even a bad one, for my headline or choosing another a day later and then a third.
Back in the real world, if you buy the album or decide to swim with the stream, you will come across Kate and family doing Bob Marley, the Bangles, James Taylor, the Cure,Taylor Swift, the Kinks, Cyndi Lauper and more ...
Here, then, are the details, as supplied by Claire, of what is billed as the Kate Rusby Worldwide Streamed Album Concert. It's the logical extension of the home recordings of individual tracks that she uploaded to YouTube to help make lockdown less gruesome and, doubtless, remind fans she had not gone away.
The album is a cracker. I have audaciously added a snippet from my own review to the list of plaudits below and you may read it in a full at https://www.salutlive.com/2020/08/the-ultimate-cover-story-kate-rusbys-hand-me-downs.html.
I gather a single view, watching on April 10, the day of the virtual gig, costs £12.50 and a gift ticket/Springtide pass allowing unlimited views between then and May 22, when the abandoned spring tour was due to have ended. How to book? Read on ...

"Fans of the covered artists may insist she cannot touch the originals, but they'd be wrong. Rusby brings something fresh to her selections, as the former Bangle Susanna Hoffs generously acknowledges with regard to Manic Monday' - Salut! Live (cruelly overlooked by Claire but cheekily added by me)
